Legal Aspects:
Regulations and Prosecutions
The laws governing vehicle loads on the Bakwena Toll Route are stringent, with prosecutions for those exceeding the legal limits.
Per the National Road Traffic Act, any vehicles exceeding the allowable maximum vehicle mass by 2% or more (as stipulated in Regulation 236), the permissible maximum combination mass (as outlined in Regulation 237), or the bridge mass-load carrying capacity (as per Regulation 241) will face legal prosecution.

Traffic Control Centres:
Located along the Bakwena N1/N4 Toll Routes are the Bapong Traffic Control Centre and the Mantsole Traffic Control Centre. While no longer under management of Bakwena, these centres play a pivotal role in maintaining safer driving conditions.
