BAKWENA ACHIEVES ANOTHER KEY MILESTONE ON THE N4 DUALLING PROJECT

Rustenburg — 20 July 2026 — Motorists travelling on the N4 between Marikana and Buffelspoort are now benefitting from improved traffic flow as Bakwena Platinum Corridor Concessionaire (Bakwena) partially opened a newly constructed section of dual carriageway to traffic on 3 July 2026. One lane will remain closed to ensure the safety of road users and construction personnel who are busy with ancillary works.

The opening of this section marked a significant milestone in the ongoing N4 Dualling Project between the Buffelspoort and Dr Moroka interchanges (37.2km). The project forms part of Bakwena’s continued investment in enhancing the safety, capacity, and efficiency of one of South Africa’s busiest freight and commuter corridors.

This milestone represents a notable achievement in the delivery of the project and marks significant progress towards the completion of the upgrade.

“We thank our communities and motorists for their patience and cooperation as we undertake these vital improvements to ensure safer and more efficient travel along the N4 corridor,” said Solly Kganyago, Chief Operating Officer of Bakwena.

Motorists are urged to exercise caution when travelling along this section of road and through the construction zone, adhere to all posted signage, comply with the reduced speed limits, and remain vigilant at all times.

Bakwena remains committed to delivering infrastructure that supports economic growth, enhances connectivity, and provides safer travel for all road users.
