The Pretoria & Limpopo Toy Run is annually hosted by Bikers That Care and this year was their 6th Toy Run held on Sunday, the 25th of November 2012.
It once again was an amazing Toy Run this year with more than 6,500 bikes, 10,500 toys and approximately 9,000 people, who contributed to making the day a huge success.
The annual (Bakwena) Toy Run is now becoming the biggest Toy Run in the Country. Bakwena opened up Doornpoort Toll Plaza this year to accommodate all the bikers. We had Bikers from the North West, Pretoria, Johannesburg and Bela-Bela attending on the day.
It’s a feeling one cannot explain. To stand there waiting at Carousel in silence then 6,500 bikes come thundering up to Carousel, you first hear the drone and then see the mass ride approaching.
This Toy Run is the only Toy Run with a full road closure and with 6,500 bikes on it is an amazing picture that cannot be seen anywhere else in South Africa.
The mountain of Toys that are delivered is overwhelming and one feels both humbled and proud to be a part of this event. Every year there are 2 departure points, one mass ride departed from O’Hagans at 08:00 via the R101 and the other from Kolonnade Retail Park, Zambesi Drive, Pretoria via the N1 to The Carousel Casino and Entertainment World.
Thank you to everyone who attended the Run and showed that they care! Hope to see you again next year.
