Bakwena is proud to announce that we will start with the concrete slab rehabilitation at both Stormvoël and Zambesi ramp plazas on 6th August 2012. The closure of the extra wide lanes at the ramp plazas will be first Stormvoël and immediate after completion followed by the Zambezi extra wide lane.
Other rehabilitation work also needs to be done on the other lanes at both plazas. All the work should be completed before the end of May 2013.
It is of benefit to the road user if these two independent projects i.e. rehabilitation work at the ramp plazas and the current upgrade work on the N1 are done simultaneously.
The rehabilitation work at the plazas will not put any additional constraints on the road user. There will however be special traffic accommodation in place for extra wide loads and alternative route pamphlets will be handed out before the lane closures as well as be available on our website www.bakwena.co.za. Road signs will direct the extra wide loads on to the alternative routes. The construction will be managed to ensure that disruption to the traffic on the ramps is kept to a minimum.
Bakwena would like to take this opportunity to thank the authorities, the Contractors, residents in the area and the road users for their co-operation during the upgrade works on the N1 as well as the rehabilitation of the Stormvoël and Zambezi plazas lanes
