Bakwena Platinum Corridor Concessionaire (Pty) Ltd (Bakwena) in partnership with various stakeholders took part in two community health & safety outreaches held on Friday 17 June 2022 at Keya Rona Mall in Bapong, North West and Wednesday 6 July 2022 in Groot Marico, North West.
The first outreach was aimed at the youth from the local area and focused on health & safety education and screening which covered:-
- Covid testing & vaccinations
- Gender based violence psychosocial
- General counselling
- Substance abuse awareness
- HIV testing and ART initiations
- PrEP initiations
- TB/STI Screening
- SRH services
- Male medical circumcision
- Testicular & prostate cancer education
- Condom distribution and usage education
- High blood & blood pressure screening
- Road safety education and information
- CMT programs information sharing and recruitment
The second outreach was aimed at empowering the community members from the Reboile Baipei section in Groot Marico with First Aid information to enable them to react appropriately and in time to emergencies. Bakwena’s First Aid volunteers demonstrated to community members how to treat:
- Graze wounds
- Burns
- Nose bleeds
- Epileptic fits
- Protruding objects
- Femur Injury
- Casualty transportation
- CPR and recovery position
- Handing over to emergency personnel
There was a good turnout at both outreaches and the successes of both days was evident by the numbers who turned up.
