Bakwena Platinum Corridor Concessionaire (Pty) Ltd (Bakwena) places great importance on the safety of their road users as well as their experience of the N1N4 route. Regular rehabilitation ensures that the roads for which we are responsible for are kept in a condition that ensures the safe passage of road users on a continuous basis. Well maintained roads have economic and social benefits for individual road users and the country as a whole.
The current 18-month N4 rehabilitation works taking place between Interchanges are progressing well. The work is being carried out in approximate 5 km blocks as detailed below:-

The works between Majakaneng and Bapong have been delayed due to the winter embargo and will commence in September when the weather becomes warmer to ensure that a quality road surface is delivered.
The proposed rehabilitation project on the N1 between Pienaarsrivier and Bela Bela will commence August 2022 until July 2023.
During the rehabilitation process there will be multiple lane closures of approximately 5km for 12 weeks at a time which will result in the traffic mobility being severely impacted. Delays can be expected particularly during peak, month-end weekends and holiday periods along these sections.
We would like to assure our road users that we are continuously working to keep these delays to a minimum and to return the road to full capacity as soon as possible. We encourage road users to plan your journeys accordingly to accommodate these delays.
Solomon Kganyago, Chief Operating Officer of Bakwena, says: “Road user safety remains as always our top priority, and in order to ensure this, we request that you partner with us and adhere to the traffic accommodation road signs, obey speed restrictions that have been implemented and exercise caution and patience while we undertake these critical rehabilitation works which will not only improve the overall safety of the road surface but will also enhance your driving experience along the N1N4 route”.
