With the 2010 Soccer World Cup here, it is essential that road users plan their routes to the games taking place at Rustenburg stadium ahead of time.
Over the soccer world cup period, the N4 toll road will be particularly busy on the day that matches are scheduled to be played at Rustenburg stadium.
We would like to urge those attending the matches to plan your route accordingly. Travel a couple of hours earlier in order to avoid the rush and queues at the tollgates. Ensure you have the correct toll fee handy (RSA currency only) or valid RSA credit card or your e-tag – the latest rates are available on our website (www.bakwena.co.za). (N4 Doornpoort – R9.00, Brits – R9.00 and Marikana – R14.00).
High volumes of traffic along the R511 can be avoided by rather continuing along the Bakwena N4 to the N1 interchange. There will be less congestion on the freeway due to various upgrades that have been undertaken on the N1 and N4 toll road by SANRAL and Bakwena. Local roads tend to be more congested.
The normal 3 lanes at Marikana toll plaza will be increased to 5 or 6 lanes on the match days in the peak direction. There will also be additional route patrollers on the road to assist you if required and you can dial 0800 BAKWENA / 0800 2259362 for assistance should you be faced with an emergency.
Bakwena would like to thank all our road users for your patience during the Soccer World Cup period.
