Once again the Capital City woke up to roaring of thunderous V-twin and V8 engines riding through its streets on Sunday (28 November 2021), where more than 2 000 bikers embarked on the annual Pretoria Toy Run starting from the Kolonnade Retail Park and ending at Carousel Casino.
This initiative aims to raise funds, toys and stationery for underprivileged children living in communities across South Africa including alongside Bakwena’s N1N4 route ahead of the Christmas and new school year season.
The Annual Toy Run is the largest of its kind in South Africa of which The Pretoria Toy Run is the second largest in Gauteng, and Bakwena has been on board as a sponsor for more than ten years. To accommodate the extraordinary number of motorcycle riders, Bakwena ensures dedicated lanes are available for the mass ride at selected toll plazas along the N1N4 route and also contributes towards the printing of t-shirts to raise funding at the event.
“Bakwena has long supported the Pretoria and Limpopo Toy Runs and is once again proud to be associated with these worthwhile initiatives which provides underprivileged children across South Africa with a little something to brighten their Christmas” says Solomon Kganyago, spokesperson for Bakwena.
“Toys are fundamental in the advancement of children’s psycho-social growth, stimulating their cognitive, social and emotional development, as well as their language expansion. On behalf of the many young lives that will be impacted by this initiative, Bakwena would like to thank all the bikers, the Pretoria Biking Council and everyone involved with organising the event for spreading the message of hope. We look forward to seeing you all again in coming years,” concludes Kganyago.
