Bakwena and PT Operational Services joined forces to make sure teachers and toddlers at Lesego Day Care in Hammanskraal and Horizon Day Care Centre in Mamelodi can look forward to spending their days in beautifully refurbished environments.
The two organisations joined forces to refurbish the two crèches on Mandela Day, choosing to focus on toddlers because of the special place they held in Nelson Mandela’s heart.
Bakwena PR officer, Charmaine van Wyk, says the two crèches were chosen for their proximity to the Bakwena N1N4 route and their dire need of a facelift. “Refurbishments included the painting of buildings and repairing of fences, doors and windows. In addition, the Bakwena and PT Operational Services teams donated educational toys, tables, chairs and various foodstuffs.”
In Groot Marico, Bakwena’s First Responders Youth Group joined forces with SAPS Youth Desk to give back to their community by cleaning the streets in the Location Reboile. They also helped families paint their RDP houses and wash their blankets.
This was not the first time our First Responders Youth Group have worked together with SAPS Youth Desk. They also rendered First Aid on Youth Day at a sports event against Crime at Venture. Headed up by Lesego Moloi, the First Responders Youth Group meet every Friday to discuss how they can make a difference in their community.
Van Wyk says Bakwena’s corporate social investment (CSI) policy focuses on four pillars, namely, Road Safety, Health, Environment and Heritage and Social Economic Development. “We currently support numerous CSI initiates within the communities along our route and work together with the communities to implement them.”
