You are one of the pioneers in Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) since Bakwena is the only toll road in South Africa currently that offers ETC through the use of an e-tag since 2002.
As a Bakwena e-tag customer, you will no doubt want to know if your Bakwena e-tag will work on SANRAL’s (The South African National Roads Agency Ltd) Gauteng e-road (GFIP) in the future.
Bakwena has been working closely with SANRAL and the SANRAL system is designed to read a Bakwena e-tag. You will however need to register an e-toll Account with SANRAL who will become the account holder for all ETC systems in South Africa. SANRAL’s registration website will be operational from the 7th November 2011.
Bakwena e-tag holders can register their e-toll Account on the website, www.sanral.co.za, following the registration prompts. If you do not have access to the internet, you can visit an e-toll Customer Service Outlet or Bakwena’s offices (at Watermeyer St and Sunninghill) and make use of the Self Help terminal. The R50 that is payable upon registration will be credited to your e-toll account.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your valued support and look forward to assisting you during this exciting phase of ETC.
