Bakwena is proud to announce that the vast majority of road users on its road conduct themselves with distinction showing tolerance and appreciation of the fact that there is an exceptional increase in traffic volumes on match days particularly on the N4 to Rustenburg. Bakwena is also proud of its own personnel processing exceptional high traffic volumes through the plazas on the N4 from Gauteng to Rustenburg. The plazas can cope with the additional traffic volumes.
Experience has shown us that the Marikana Toll Plaza is under pressure when the traffic peaks during match days but the throughput remains satisfactory.
We would like to call on road users to assist us to ensure even faster processing of traffic by:
-
Having cash at hand.
Having the right amount of cash at hand. The amount for Marikana is R14 for a light vehicle. This gives you more options for faster processing during these abnormal high traffic volumes.
We have runners with “Cash Only” boards in the lanes. They assist in faster processing of transactions. Please make use of them.
Leave earlier for the match. Your travelling time will be reduced and you will have more time to spend at the venue and surroundings and getting into the spirit of the event. Peak traffic volumes are experienced at Marikana approximately 4 hours before the match. Try to be at Marikana more than 4 hours before the match starts.
The N4 is still the safest and quickest route from Gauteng to Rustenburg – use it!
There will be additional route patrollers to assist you if required and you can dial 0800 BAKWENA / 0800 2259362 for assistance should you be faced with an emergency.
Please be advised that there are no public toilet facilities available at any of the plazas. Bakwena would like to thank all our road users for your patience during the Soccer World Cup period. The role of the authorities is appreciated as well.
